Our Shoe Fitting Process:
Interview:
What type of activity will the shoes be used for? Road running/walking, trail running/walking, work, etc.
Were you referred to us by one of our health care partners? If so, were you given specific instructions or guidelines to follow?
What shoes are you currently using for this activity? If you have them, we want to see them. How old are these shoes?
Are you currently experiencing any pain? Do you have a history of pain when engaged in this activity?
Foot Type Evaluation:
One of our staff will evaluate your feet for pronation type. This, along with the interview, helps narrow down the selection of shoes and/or insoles most appropriate for you.
Sizing:
In most cases, your foot will not be measured. This is because shoe sizes vary greatly from one brand to another and within each brand. Our staff will take care to ensure you are in a well fitted shoe by evaluating each shoe individually. The final shoe size will often not be the size you have been wearing. Wearing a shoe just because you were measured and received a number that matches that size and not evaluating the fit individually is a common cause of foot discomfort.
Test Ride:
Based on the information gathered in the above steps, a staff member will bring out a few shoes that best meet your needs. You can take a jog or walk on our treadmill and give us your feedback on how the shoe feels. The staff member will help you check the fit and watch you walk and/or run to be sure the shoe is doing what it needs to do for you. At this point, if you are a runner, the staffer may recommend slight changes in your running style to assist in your efficiency and help reduced injury rate.
We do not do video gait analysis as we have found it to magnify imperfections in gait and leads to a tendency for over-correction.
